We are Derrywash Student Council. We make sure that all the students in the school are happy and that everything is running smoothly at school.

We hold meetings every few weeks in Ms Jennings' classroom and with the help of her we are able to get things done in school.

Pupils in 3rd and 4th Class are enjoying working in teams researching different aspects of "Ancient Greece". Using books, laptops and iPads we have been improving our fact finding skills and learning how to access reliable sources when looking for information online.

Some amazing art work from 3rd and 4th Class inspired by Vincent Van Gogh. We have been enjoying studying Van Gogh's art work and have been very creative developing our artistic skills each week. 

This week we had our first meeting of the newly formed Derrywash NS. There has been great excitement in the school with elections in 1st -6th classes. Twelve representatives were finally chosen after passionate campaigns. At our first meeting our officers were elected: Emma is chairperson, Eric is secretary, Zoe is treasurer and Sara is our PRO. 

We are very excited to be engaging in robotics workshops in Derrywash N.S.. 3rd and 4th class have made an excellent start building and programming robots using Lego Wedo kits. We look forward to learning lots of new and exciting skills and working as engineers, suppliers, builders and directors. All pupils in 3rd - 6th class will be developing their robotics skills over the next few weeks. 

Welcome to our 3rd & 4th Class page. We have had an exciting start back to school already, with lots of activities to look forward to throughout the term. We are really enjoying integrating technology into our learning activities and we have been developing our fitness skills with hurling and GAA training already. 2nd & 3rd class decided to make the most of the beautiful weather by having reading time outside today! Good for the bodies AND minds! 😊                                                      

On Tuesday we spent the day in Knock Shrine to prepare for our First Holy Communion. We played games, talked about Jesus in our lives and we heard all about the story of Knock. We had a tour of the museum and watched a short DVD of the story of the apparitions. 

We were lucky enough to visit the Carmelite sisters who make the bread. They even let us cut our own! We will use this bread on our big day.
